Better AA solution for Marantz pmd 620
« on: August 13, 2018, 11:42:12 AM »
Ran my Oade wmod for th first time last night. Two hours and I'm down to one bar. I know the obvious solution is to run my m10 when time is a concern, but I like the 620 better running mic in from a babynbox.

I am using Duracell 2400 nimh, the green and gold. Is there something longer lasting out there? Anyone have experience with lithium runtimes if that's my only option?

Thanks!

If you have an IKEA nearby these 4pks are a bargain.  You have to purchase them at the store.  IKEA will not ship these to you.  If you buy them online and have them shipped from another supplier the cost doubles...

I typically get between 4-4.5 hours running an Oade modded pmd661 (providing phantom power).  I would think that you would easily exceed that when running a pmd 620.

I use rechargeable Eneloop 2100mAh in mine.

I get 5 hours or more continuously running line in.

I can't do disposable.

Oade warm mod 620 must suck a whole lot more juice running mic in, only got two hours, and I'm running Good batteries cycle them and they are holding juice fine. Also sucks a ton of power on playback which isn't a huge deal. I hate tossing batteries, I got the 620 to avoid tossing A23 batteries using an IPA dammit. Nbox is too big and too metal for big wand shows.

But omg the Oade warm sounds so good to my ears...... :headphones:

I'm, sorry to waste everyone's time. Took a closer look at my duracells all but two of eight would only charge to 1100 mah or so. Thanks George, powerexs ordered.

Running mic in is going to draw more power!!  So less battery time.

^ I get six+ hours with Eneloop Pros going mic-in and more or less the same with good alkalines. When I run my Oade PMD620, I usually figure five hours as safe and change around then (for those rare occasions when I need more than that).

Thanks guys. My Duracell 2400s is the issue, I should be getting 5 hours instead of the two I’m getting

The Duracell green/gold's suck.  Get Eneloop Pro by Panasonic  Greatest AA battery ever.   :coolguy:

Marc,

The IKEA's batteries that I linked you to above are rebranded Eneloop Pro batteries at half the price of the Eneloop Pro's.  4 batteries for $6.99.  That information is in the two other links that I also provided in my above post...  There are several of us here at TS using the IKEA's with great results.

Not super enamored of the Duracell green and gold 2400s, but after properly conditioning them, still got 4+. So I imagine I'll do better with Powerex 2700s I ordered. Thanks for the IKEA tips it's just such a pita to get there.
