The Freebird has a video camera set up permanetly, so what I need is something small and portable to record at least the video signal and hopefully the audio signal also.
Anyone know of something like this?

What kind of camera is it? What kind of output does it have? You could get an inexpensive MiniDV camcorder with analog in and using the appropriate cables plug it into your camera's analog in. I'm assuming it's a view only camera or if it is that you can't record on it at the same time it's being used so that would be my solution. You'll still spend up to $200 unless you buy used but MiniDV cams are extremely portable and easy to use.
