I have an issue with the usb input on our unit,  Intermittent, seems loose. Any ideas on where to get service for them?  Anyone open one up the see that side of board? I'm a fair hand with a soldering iron, I suspect a broken soldering point. We are close to Seattle and Portland. Bob

I’ve had one if my units open to repair the USB port. It involves removing a couple of layers of circuit boards to gain access (through the bottom).  It is a surface mount part, and the pins are visible, so if you can get to it, you should be able to inspect and resolder with a fine tipped iron. I would say the job is not for the inexperienced. Sorry to say I didn’t take any photos of my work. Best of luck!

I'm working on getting another from a member here, that will justify the risk of opening one of these up. I got a service manual which certainly is a requirement (Thanks, Charlie!!!), I have replace surface mounted parts on my sony D6 DAT, as well as my sony d6 cassette deck, so I am aware of the difficulty. I'm older now, shakier hands and failing eyesight! (lol). Should be a good experience if nothing else. I'm sure a repair would be costly. Thanks for info, everyone here has been great with help. Bob
