thanks to Voltronic for the tip, I am a Savior Clamp convert.  No going back.

Here's my Savior clamp at Tedeschi Trucks / Wang Theatre Boston, clamped to the chair leg (11th row) with a Manfrotto articulating arm and a Matthews baby extension.  Gets me to something higher than head-height, which is higher than they usually allow anyway.

Very clever setup!

Welcome aboard Team Savior Clamp! One of us! One of us!

Very well done indeed!  I've yet to need to clamp to someone else's seat.  Also I'm 100% on team Savior Clamp, my experience is that it is far more versatile than the Super Clamp
mics:  AKG c480b (x4) + ck61, ck62, & ck63; Schoeps cmc6 + mk4
pre:  2 x Oade m148, 1 x Oade m248

Any complaints from the owner of the seat you're clamped on? How much clearance between the rig and seatback do you achieve? Any movement when they sit down?

Taped a friends birthday party a few weeks ago.  Wanted to run onstage + sbd but there wasn't much room.  Impact double ball joint, super clamp and Matthews extension for the win!

onstage (porch) clamped to banister, dfc

Here's my Savior clamp in action. Connected to ceiling beam, then a Manfrotto articulated arm with my Manfrotto triple bar holding AKG ck61's nbob's in XY in center and DPA omni's spread 30"
First pic is from behind and second is from the front, second pic you can make out the AKG's in their small foam screens. Using the triple bar for the XY failed me as my SRS XY mount didn't allow me to aim it forward.
