I'm undecided about buying a new PCM-D10, so thought I'd revive this old thread.  It seemed to fade away just after a few people bought one, or said they were likely to buy one.

I know it's been discontinued, but new ones seem to be available at some dealers.

The Sony marketing blurb suggested it had been designed with high quality in mind, but the Mindful Audio review raised issues of preamp noise when using the XLR inputs.

I just wondered what other users thought of them.

I’ve owned every Sony PCM portable recorder since the D1 and the D10 was the only one that disappointed me, in fact I quickly moved it on despite it still being in my signature.

It was much noisier than D100, D50 and M10.

That's really good to know, thanks!  I'll give it a miss, and will look for an alternative.
