Mono-mic in a stereo Battery-box?
« on: January 03, 2025, 07:12:35 PM »
Hello!

I have an AKG C407 with mini-XLR connector.
I want to solder either a TRS or TS 3.5mm plug.

I want to plug it into my Sound Professionals SP-SPSB-4 12v battery box.

Since the battery box is made for stereo microphones and I want to plug in a mono microphone, I wonder how to solder without grilling the microphone.

Can you plug in a mono mic to a stereo battery-box?

What is the best of these three options? And which option is dangerous?

Option 1:
T - Red +
R - Blue -
S - Shield

Option 2:
T - Red +
R - unconnected
S - Blue - + Shield

Option 3: TS-plug
T - Red +
S - Blue - + Shield

Thanks!
