App for streaming music from a website?
« on: June 03, 2010, 10:46:52 AM »
Does anyone know of a good way to allow streaming, a la MySpace, from a webpage/blog with a nice interface with a play button?  I have messed around with inserting a basic Quicktime link, but I'm hoping there might be something a bit more sophisticated that could be an add-on app to Wordpress or something.

If you have done this with your website/blog, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Do you need streaming, or will an audio player - one that plays MP3s you have on your server - suffice?

http://wpaudioplayer.com
http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ (this one is basically what archive uses as their player)

And there are others. Basically you upload the MP3s you want to play to your server, create a playlist file and set the code to play that file and corresponding MP3s.

We used to use that one, but we use Flowplayer now (http://flowplayer.org/)
Unofficial Blues Traveler archivist - glad to work on any BT or related recordings
archive.org admin - happy to upload tracked material to the LMA
