that looks really cool. the official specs say that it will accomodate mics 20-24 mm. my Sennheiser MKH 8040 and MKH 30 mics are 19 mm and 25 mm respectively. do you think that 1 mm on the high and low end of the Octava spec is a deal breaker for use with the Sennheisers?

You could buy a 99ยข sheet of high density foam around the mic or felt. Or anything to make it fit more snug.

I own two of these mounts. It is well built being made mostly of metal. The twin tubes that hold the mics have vinyl inserts that fit mics 19 mm to perhaps 21 mm diameter. I have a Sennheiser MKH-8040 that fits just fine. If only Senheiser would come out with a 8030 figure-8 this would be a killer mount for a 8040/8030 MS set up.
If you remove the inserts a mic up to 24mm dia will fit, but you'd have to fashion some kind of gasket to hold the mic in place. Unfortunately, the tubes that hold the mics are held in place with 8 rivets that project through the tubes. If you tried to put a 25mm mic in there the mount would scratch up the mics. Perhaps with a little bit of work with a Dremel tool one could grind down those projecting rivets and get a 25mm mic to fit.
Like I said I have two of these that I bought from Germany a few months ago. I'd sell one for quite a bit less than the $70 quoted above. PM me if you are interested.

Looks nice, but looks are not everything.
Personally I use a Rycote InVision Lyre mount and a pair of Rycote back-to-back clips for MS.
The patented Lyre is much better at isolation than elastic bands or O-rings - so much so, that I have ditched all my elastic suspensions and moved over to Rycote for everything.

Damn that's a sweetass setup! Too bad I will thankfully NEVER need to run full-bodied mics again. I already have an M/S NolaBar aqnd can run M/S super lo-pro ;D 8) I LOVE my actives! But if I EVER did run full-bodied mics, I would DEF use that Rycote setup :)

Pretty sure Louie is gonna use them to hold stereo bars.

This is the Rycote picture showing a Schoeps set-up:-

This shows the large mount suitable for a basket windshield.
They also do this as a small InVision mount - the _NV-HG mkII:-

This is what my set-up looks like with a Sennheiser MKH 30/40 MS set-up (click the thumbnail for a larger view):-

It was me who came up with this in the first place, by screwing together Rycote bits in a different way. They liked my idea so muck that hey now do it as standard. ;D
The mount and dual-clips will take any size mic. from 19mm to 25mm, including the square sided MKH series.
