What 12v battery would you rec.?
« on: April 20, 2006, 11:06:32 PM »
Recently picked up the HHB-PDR1000, which is a 12V device.  I'd prefer not to run something as large as the Eco Charge.  Any recommendations?  I couldn't find any info on current draw, so I' flyin' blind here.
Socks are overrated.

there are many options for a 12V NiMH batteries.  I like http://www.batteryspace.com/ (although I'm sure that there are many places to buy them online).  I just bought this one:

for my soon to arrive Tascam HD-P2.  I went with it because its small and flat.

but before you order anything, I'd try to find info on current draw, so you have an idea of what amp-hours you need in a battery...

Thanks Jason.  What kind of charger did you pick up with this?  I've found several of the 12V "DVD" batteries, but they're REALLY expensive.

This is the charger that I have:

batteryspace.com actually has many package deals (i.e. battery + smart charger sold together), which is what I did last fall when I bought a 9V NiMH battery to use with my microtrack (with a voltage regulator in between, obviously).  the charger is good for a range of voltages, so while I'm planning to sell the Microtrack and the battery system (my HD-P2 should arrive on Monday :) ), the charger is still good for my 12V battery.

something like this would take care of the battery and the charger:

the only thing I don't like about it is the connectors.  but it's easy enough to hack off the ends and solder on your own connectors...
