how is it done I have some AR speakers that I guess you can do it to (they have 2 sets of binding posts)
what equipment do i need and what is the result of doing this?

bi-amping is using one amp to drive the low frequencies and another for the highs.
So you'll need another amp and another set of speaker cables.. You must also make sure your pre has 2 outs that put out the same signal or your amps must be daisy chainable.
I'd say bi-amping is similar to the added traction a 4 wheel drive vehicle has over a 2 wheel drive vehicle in the mud. You'll get better detail and more resolution by bi-amping.

I've seen some use a Y cable from the pre

so i've never understood something about bi-amping...there is no cross-over before the power amps? both amps are pushing the full frequency range, but the cross-over in the speaker sorts through it?

yeah, both amps output identical signals.

what if you seen both your a and b signal to the speaker?

not sure that would work cause youd be splitting the wattage intstead of adding. but i have no idea what im talking about.
