alternatives to Pelican case?
« on: February 23, 2007, 01:18:47 PM »
Looking for a different storage solution for my mics.  Would like one that could hold both pairs possibly.  Fingers are 8.2 inches long by 1 inch.  Too long for any of the Pelicans.  And then I would hope to be able to nuzzle the 414's in there as well.  Thanks for any help.  Cheers.

You could use a Gun Case, they make some that are long and skinny.  Perfect to two long mics???

why? as long as a firearm is in your checked luggage, and you declare the firearm, it's perfectly legal.
although...you are right....carrying it out in the open through an airport might not be the best idea.

"Firearms and ammunition may not be carried by a passenger on an aircraft. However, unloaded firearms may be transported in checked baggage if declared to the agent at check in and packed in a suitable container. Handguns must be in a locked container. Boxed small arms ammunition for personal use may be transported in checked luggage. Amounts may vary depending on the airline. "

don't know what type of protection you are looking for but there are lots of small tackle boxes that may work

Even pre-911 I kept my gear in a gun case and would get stopped *every* time I caried it through the airport. I can't imagine what kind of commotion it would cause now.
