On Amazon today for $230
Specs are pretty impressive for that price.   ???

Anyone have an opinion on Onkyo?
Especially the built-in Chromecast and DACs...

Have the TX-NR656.  Sounds really good.  My only beef with the modern receivers is that they have NO digital out and that the analog out on the lower end stuff only passes through the analog inputs.  Kinda hoses you for dedicated headphone amplifers or other external DAC devices while using the receiver as a switching hub.

Love the Chromecast capacity though.
Yes, but what do you HEAR?

I have a TX-NR709 that I found in a thrift store.  Had the infamous HDMI board go out after a month but was fixed for free by their warranty program.  (found a NR-TX729 on the curb which has the same issue)  Replaced a Pioneer VSX90 as it sounds so much better (funny that they are made by the same company).  Fewer speakers but better sound, more inputs such as dedicated turntable and a somewhat better app.

I scored an Onkyo TX-SR608 in a thrift store a couple of years ago.  Rock solid performer for my 1080p setup.   Though I just went back to Denon, my Onkyo experience did not suck.

That said, for $230, the NR575 gives you 4k support and HDCP 2.2, so you can use it with a 4K tv.  That alone makes it a steal.  Go for it!
