How water resistent are windscreens?

More specifically, how water resistent are the DPA 896 big boys?  Hopefully, I'll be rolling tape this weekend and may be under slight rainfall.  Will water pass right through the screens or will it keep the caps dry provided the bottom doesn't fall out?

I would say that for a light mist you should be ok, but any more than that I would not chance it. Do you not have an umbrella you can connect to your stand?

Its for the Charlotte Cityfest where there is no open taping allowed.  However, if others are using umbrellas, I could put one over my head and be fine.  I could maybe even pull off a stand in that circumstance.

running a stand in Charlotte is a bad idea....they are very anti-taper....and the last thing you want is to get tossed

Have you ever seen those umbrella hats.  They are just a head band connected to an umbrella that covers your head.  That's what you need.  Check Spencers Gifts at the mall.  Probably right next to the Cronic the Hemp Hog T-shirts or the six pack helmet. ;)
