The latest 1.75 firmware update extends the capabilities of Sound Devices best-selling 788T multi-track recorder. It now has a faster power on (boot up) and ready to record features, even with thousands of files on media. The latest upgrade also features a new Input Fader Range Menu, which allows the user to select the dB range of the mixer fader.  Three options are available including Wide (off to +15 dB), Narrow (-15 to +15 dB) and Fade Only (off to 0 dB).  Sound Devices 1.75 firmware upgrade also enables up to +15 dB of gain selectable on mix track levels.  This is selectable in the LEVELS view in the Track Setup Menu which is accessed by pressing the INPUT button.

This firmware release improves overall reliability of the unit and enables bEXT Originator Date to be changed to the format YYYY-MM-DD, so files are imported correctly into Sony's Vegas as Broadcast Wave files.  With the latest upgrade, the 788T also now remembers current edited routing after a power cycle.

It was released awhile ago.  I have been using since its release. It does boot quicker.  The 788T still sounds sweet, and has a few new wrinkles.  Go Sound Devices!
