Title: SD Card for Edirol R-09???
Post by: bhakti on January 02, 2008, 08:25:28 AM
hey guys

Sure this has been asked loads, but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of where to buy and what to buy with regards to SD cards for the Edirol R-09? I just got my Edirol today and want to record this show in 2 days time. Are all SD cards the same size? What brands are cool/compatible for the Edirol? How much am I looking at? Do different brands really matter?

I'm looking for a 4GB card, but can also go for 2 X 2GB. Anything really, but may do some festivals, so perhaps a 4GB???

Thanks again guys. I look forward to all your responses and apologize if this question has been asked before. Its great to finally be aboard this taping madness... probably the only guy really doing it in my country but am glad to be documenting music history here... man i love touching my new Edirol...  :D

take it easy guys....

Bhakti

I´ve been using a 4GB SANDISK SD-HC card (with USB-cardreader-adapter included) successfully for many shows with my 2 Edirol R09 ...before they broke  >:(.

At 16bit 44.1kHz 4GB make 6h24min.
8GB card => 12h48min at 16/44.1

Alot of people here including me got the Transcend 4GB when the R-09 came out in July 2006 and I don't remember anyone having any issues with them. They were $100 back then and today they're $60 on newegg.

Transcend 8gb SDHC card $35 after rebate at newegg.com.  free shipping too!

and yes, bhakti that 4gb sdhc card is fine with the edirol r09.  i own one and it performs flawlessly.

I definitely had problems with the Transcend 4gb/class 2 cards, they kept giving me speed errors all summer because the card was too slow. Go class 6 at least for the Transcend, although the 6's are so/so also in the 4GB size. I have a 8gb/class 6 card that seems to be working good, but other people besides myself have had problems with the class 2, 4, & 6 with the 4GB cards. Edirol even says that they are incompatible right here on there website.

■ Incompatible SD/SDHC cards

The following SD cards have been reported to not work properly in some cases.

Manufacturer name
 Model Name

[ 4GB (SDHC)]

Transcend
 TS4GSDHC6

Transcend
 TS4GSDHC

thanks again for all your help guys... that SD card i posted [the link] is actually a Kingston 4GB SD Card and not a Transcend. I have only read good things about the Kingston cards, so think I will go with one of those...

once again, huge thanks guys... take it easy...

I have a 4GB Kingston and I just bought two 8GB Kingston's, I haven't heard anything bad about them, it's good to ask though because people here have prolly tried just about every card on the market. Good luck!

I got a really good deal from Circuit City on a SanDisk 4 GB SDHC card. I think it was under $30 on December 26. I've had no problems with it yet.
