m-audio mobile-pre?
« on: February 22, 2004, 05:06:29 AM »
My friend's MD just died.  I suggested she look into the mobile-pre because she has a laptop and it would be a lot cheaper than picking up a JB3 or similar device.

Had anyone field tested one of those?  Any problems?

I would tell her to get a UA5 but that's pretty much out of her price range.

actually, she said she's gonna go with the njb3.  I just suggested it to her as a cheaper alternative.

I own a MobilePre....

In loud concert settings, it does a pretty decent job (rock shows, small clubs, etc.).

I've also used it to record a couple of classical/wind ensemble concerts - not very good in those situations.  The mic pre's are a bit noisy and give you a not-so-nice hiss if you try to boost the gain/volume.

Hope that helps!

Andrew
