Need a good 1/8 mini jack female to male
« on: August 27, 2007, 11:47:38 PM »
Tried to test my new rig tonight and unfortunately, the male plug on the 15-foot Canare cable I bought is too wide to fit in to the input on my Church Audio 9000 pre. Can anyone recommend a good quality (to match what I already have) short, female to male cable with a smaller male plug so I can use the long cable? I guess I could get something from Radio Shack, but would it make a difference in the sound? I tried to buy a quality cable but I can't use it! :( Thanks in advance. rWc3523 8)

Sound like the jack extension useful for unstressing R-09 input jacks is one possible solution.

Well I cant help you tonight but. I would talk to Nickspicks and get him to make you an extension cable.
Ps.. Any cable you get from RS might not have a shield because the cables that they sell are not designed for low level signals they are headphone extension cables.. They sometimes have shielding sometimes not... Your rolling the dice with RS. If your in a real jam you can hack away the bottom part of the preamp.. (pm me if you need help with this ) and I can fix it for you later on for free * just pay for return shipping * I can replace the bottom half of the preamps casing... Just to get it working for tonight.

Hey Russ,

I wanted to practice a little cable building. ;)

I got your email from pm and will send off in the mail with the White Stripes show from Snowden Grove.  Do someone a favor when you can and we"ll be even.

I may later shoot a photo of my taping bag and upload, most of my pulls are open so the convience factor is great.
