How long does the Lemosax/Sonosax last w/ [2] 9v alkaline batteries ??? They will be powering schoeps mk41s thru a KCY cable :) My 16v/19v DVD Battery just DIED on me ??? :'( :( And I need to know how long 9v's will last sdince I cant order a new DVD Battery for a week or 2 :)

that means that you have the polarity backwards and you tripped it. to reset the unit, plug the charger back into it and connect to the wall. then disconnect the charger and try turning the battery on. it should work.

that means that you have the polarity backwards and you tripped it. to reset the unit, plug the charger back into it and connect to the wall. then disconnect the charger and try turning the battery on. it should work.
It worked fine prior to this tho. I am 100% sure it worked fine the last 2 days, it just up and DIED on me :'(

Maybe. I had one go this summer and it wouldn't charge at all, didn't even attempt to charge. It was virtually unused too, maybe 3 or 4 charges on it (I'd logged maybe 50 hours on it, maybe just 40).
Had you used it at all or was this the first time you'd powered it up to see if it worked?

At least 4 1/2 - 5 hours, maybe more.

Yes, it worked for 2 days and then just went DEAD

Lets say I was running my lemosax w/ 2x9v's, AND an external dvd battery. Well, once the external dvd battery dies, would the internals take over seamlessly ???

Call me a pansy, but I wouldn't trust it, it's a box where your performance is directly tied to what voltage is fed to it. Part of me wouldn't be surprised if they didn't separate the external/internal powering elements and you end up overvolting the box by having both options live.

I'd guess you'd likely get grounding issues. It's finicky about it's power, I mean, think about it, if upping the voltage from 16 to 19 yeilds a higher headroom in the amp stage, there can't be too much involved in the way of power conditioning in the box...

I never did outside of just testing it once. I know that Jason would switch his 9v at setbreak during Phish when he used it because it seemed to start the low battery flashing like mid second set and he was worried it might crap out near the encore if it was a long show. Both his and mine were normal P48 units though so the draw might be more, I don't know. Brian's got a better handle on it.
If you can get a set of 4 rechargeable 9v batteries, it would be a nice stop gap measure until you get a new external battery.

Bean, About 5 hours is what I used to get running 9 volts. I use two 9v dvd batteries now and it works fine. Just need a cable made to run both.

Just the Inital RB-270s . These seem like they will run forever. Never tried to run them down all the way.

Yeah, thanks alot Andy :) I am going to use 9v's for moedown since I cant afford a dvd battery before then :) I scored [8] x 9v's at Walgreens for only 14 bucks :) Just cheap generics. I will do a batt tests or two first as always tho, so Im not surprised at the festival!

Also, Andy, Is that info with cheap alkaline 9v's or Duracell/Energizer 9v's ???

Duracell I think. BJ's always has a huge multipack at a reasonable cost. Enjoy the sax Bean. Still love mine after 8 years with it.

Using 2x generic 9v's, I am getting 12.5 hrs right now and its still going strong, even tho the low battery light is flashing like crazy :) I am SOOOOO PSYCHED I am getting this long of runtimes :) I can do ALL of MoeDown w/ just a few pairs of 9v's :)

I got around 14hrs TOTAL running 2x generic 9v's :) So just to be on the safe side, I'm switching out my batteries after 10hrs :) This means I'll only have about 4 battery changes at moedown this labor day :) 8)

Bean you might want to ask Jon Merin about using 9Vs with the Lemosax. I think he had his die prematurely using generic 9V at Summer Camp one year. Are you getting 14 hours under load at high dB volume?

Levels were being PUSHED, at around -6db on the M10 :)

FYI on the Walgreens Alkaline 9v's and AA's. I was told years ago that they're just house-branded Duracells. Typical way for Duracell to do that would be to take the cells that don't pass their statistical quality controls with flying colors, and brand them for Wags.
I used to be able to get the 8-packs of 9-volt Walgreens Supercells for $12 (they crept up from $8) but occasionally they'd do two-for-ones and I'd snarf up a year's worth of preamp power. But now Walgreens doesn't seem to have the 8-packs, and the 1 & 2-packs are unreasonable. Bearing that in mind, i found out that Radio Shack puts their house brand on two-for-one sale about 4 times a year, and I asked the local Shack Geeks to give me a call when that is happening. Note: I have not yet tried the RS batteries for my preamp.

There's a difference between the standard and lemosax versions. I've always gotten 10+ hours with the lemosax.
From the sx-m2 manual:
16. SPECIAL VERSIONS SX-M2/LS
Designed for use by sound engineers, working frequently with the same pair of condenser or electret microphones, this version provides the same high quality amplification and features as the SX-M2.
The difference between the two versions is that the SX-M2/LS allows the user to directly connect the capsules without the microphone body thus creating a significant diminution of power consumption.

To this date I have run my SAX on 2 9v batteries all the time. I get at least 5 hours of run time with 2 9v batteries.
I dont even know what a DVD battery is?
I dont even know what a DC power adapter for the sonosax looks like or who makes it?
What are my options regarding external poweer not only for preamps but what about other devices like iphones, ipads, etc.
please educate me I would really appreciate it

I have a Lemosax tho and they dont use as much power since theyre only powering my Schoeps caps :)
