Title: rode k2 vs ksm-44 vs akg 414b-uls
Post by: shutterfish on March 04, 2007, 04:39:52 PM
I am trying to decide on a new mic for recording at home.  I am no pro but this is a full time hobby.  I just picked up an FMR RNC and an FMR RNP, and now I need a primary vocal mic that also works well with acoustic guitar.

I had a ksm-27 but just sold it and am looking at the rode k-2, the akg 414b-uls, and the shure ksm44.  I know it is impossible for someone to say 'this is the mic to get hands down' but since I can't go check out how these sound on my voice, your input would be great.  Any other mics in the up to $700ish price range that you might like would be great to hear about too.

If you want to hear what I sound like and what I have done, check out my myspace page- /shutterfish -you can get a feel for my voice.  I want something that has presence and picks up those subtle nuances of voice, but I don't want anything too hot or overly hyped.

I would really appreciate your opinions.  Just an fyi I am leaning toward the k-2 right now- maybe a cheaper rode would do though?
