Anyone try the Line In on their netbook yet...?

Can it handle a consumer line level?

I think I'll try it out tonight - my mixer has RCA outs and output control...

Poking through the Volume control settings - (you do have to activate the input controls.)

There is something called "Mic Boost" which I turned off...

Hopefully this will accept an actual line level and not just mic...

I haven't tried it with line-level signals, but I did try plugging in my SP-TFB-2 mics into the mic jack. It worked in stereo, but there was LOTS of diginoise.

there are shit tons of cheap USB/Firewire interfaces.  try out an Apogee Duet or something?

I would not recommend the E-MU 0404 USB for use with an Aspire One (or laptops in general!) - my experience with that combo was lots of clicks and pops, no matter how much I tweaked the system (removing tray icons, minimal video, etc., etc.). It has also been troublesome with other laptops I've tried as well. It's utterly perfect on my desktop system, and it works beautifully as an analog-of-sorts preamp (like the UA-5, there's an A->D->A conversion, but you'd never notice it when listening to a recording).

Does a Duet have winders or linux drivers by "aftermarketeers"?

You'd expect that someone would have put out Linux drivers by now...
