Topic: Running an external pre > Mix Pre 6ii

This might seem like silly questions to some but I want to check and make sure my thinking is headed in the right direction for once.

If I am running my mics into a external m248 pre > mix pre 6ii. Should My settings be NO power to the mics from the mix pre 6ii because that's what the external pre is doing? Also by running the external pre does the gain on the mix pre 6ii become irrelevant?
