Making cables for Schoeps Lemo?

I'm finally making the jump to Schoeps CMC1L with Lemo connectors. I'd like to be able to make some custom Lemo-to-XLR cables for them.

What is the Schoeps 3-pin Lemo connector I need?  How challenging are they to solder, assuming I'm set up for doing small stuff?

I believe you need a special tool for crimping to the Lemo connectors. The part number for the connectors should be FVN.00.650.KLAC31Y.

I ended up buying a special cable from Schoeps for mine: AK 2L/SU Y Cable for CCM

^^Ouch---$45 each for just the Lemo the connectors... 

This is great info by the way. Has anyone tried soldering them or have any more info about the crimper I need (I have lots of crimpers, but maybe not a special one).

Also, is there another company that makes sub-$45 connectors that fit?

I suggest you pay for those expensive connectors, and make your own cables. I don't think there's any competition who makes the same thing cheaper.

Otherwise, you'll need the cable David bought, but it's hideously overpriced like most Schoeps accessories. The total materials cost of that cable is no more than $100, even if you use the Schoeps KS cable stock.

The other option is to exchange your CMC 1 L for CMC 1 U. XLR connectors are cheap, so you could make a Y cable of similar length for about $25.
