Schoeps From Europe
« on: November 07, 2022, 05:00:59 PM »
So, who has ordered Schoeps from Europe lately?  Who did you buy from and how was the experience?  I'm looking to buy a pair of Schoeps 41 caps.  I still have the one and have been looking for a second one for a while.  Figured I'd buy a matched pair and sell this single I have.

Thanks.

A lot of people run a race to see who is the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I have not pulled the trigger yet but I got quotes from funky-junk and pink noise.  I had a 3rd quote but they said there was no such thing as a matched pair so I deleted their message.  I was being quoted ~$1500 to the door for matched MK41s A-stock

What does FJ stand for?  I thought I knew most of the European Schoeps dealers, but that one is new to me

Maybe try Thomann in Germany. They are a big outfit, so they usually have things in stock. Well packed and fast shipping. I have ordered quite a lot from them, although no Schoeps.

Note that the prices displayed are with VAT added; when you put them in your basket and select US shipping, the price will change to reflect no VAT. It looks like an MK41 is $635 at the moment.

Will they match a pair?

I have no idea; send them an e-mail. They have always been responsive in my experience. If you send it through their UK webstore, it will go directly to an English speaker...

As for customs, I haven't looked in some time, but the personal exemption is pretty high and the first big chunk above that level is subject to a fairly modest duty. This would likely be duty-free, but definitely worth checking.

I think Digital Audio Service (from Hamburg, Germany) will sell matched pairs upon request. At least, they did so for my Gefells. Same price as Thomann's.

TTS member jerryfreak (https://taperssection.com/index.php?action=profile;u=836) has an account with Schoeps.  With his assistance, I purchased a new matched pair of MK41s two years ago.

No problem asking about the Gefell caps.

Thanks to those who shared some info.

I'm wondering what the duties will be for a pair of 41's.  Maybe 4v's.
