R09-HR problem.
« on: February 19, 2011, 08:55:14 AM »
Hi there.

I've got a Edirol R09-HR (two months old) and sometimes when I turn it on it freezes before the start-up screen comes on. Only way to fix it is to remove the batteries. I've mentioned this problem in another post here but thought to try again.

Anyone here have or come across this problem, and if so, how to fix it............................please.

v1.05 + SDHC card.

You might want to try to update the firmware which can be found in the 'downloads' tab here .  Looks like version 3.0 is out.  Also be sure to format the card inside the r-09hr and not on a pc.

Thanks D but don't wish to update to 3.0 - menu problems from what I gather, and, card was formated in the HR.

Upgrading to 3.0 is your only choice.  The SD will not be affected by the upgrade.  The upgrade may even fix your problem.  Give it a try......   ;)

I'm not worried about the cards I have, they can be replaced but once you update the firmware you can't go back and I'd not want to lose the hidden features.

Do as willndmb suggests. You need to upgrade firmware, but version 3 blows. With 3 you can't access the hidden menu (although you can access the less convenient test mode to do basically the same things) and it adds a useless rehearsal mode that I sometimes used to turn on by accident and set off all sorts of lights flashing. Version 2 if fine-it just adds a few useless (to me) choices to the menu such as a metronome.

The hidden menu is great because it allows you to turn off the glaring record light and make a few other changes that may be useful for some.

Just out of curiosity, does it freeze up if you start it with no SD card in the unit? Or running it with the power cord and no batteries?

I haven't tried these but will.

I got in contact with Support at Roland and they seem to think it's related to one of the boards in the unit. If kinglerxst's ideas don't work I'll be sending the unit off Roland to get checked out.

Thanks for your imput people.
