with a 4 gig card, you could fit two 2 gig files on it.  at 16 bit, 2 gigs is about 3 hours.  so a 4 gig card would hold approx 6 hours at 16 bit.  once the firmware is updated to include a new file starting automatically when 2 gigs is reached, you'd have 6 continuous hours at 16 bit.

as far as file sizes go, how much you'd need, and how much you can fit on a card, this is a good page to check out:

isn't playing the 24 bit files a bitch though?

not at all.  this is a good page to check out:

good resources jason, +T.

John as i mentioned, you could go with a cheap 16bit option like the JB3 and that will give you quick transfers to computer after the show if thats what you're looking for.

i'd say a big reason to get the microtracker is the ability to go 24bit. It really does make a hell of a difference when you have a good playback system that can handle it. I've been taping 24bit since 2003, and listening 24bit since 2004. Took me a while to get the right components but its totally worth it

anyway i still stand by my opinion that you should get rid of some of the gear you have and get the 722. I personally would sell off the ad1k and minime... but i know you like the minime...
the v2 might be nice to have down the line if you want to run Schoeps>v2>722... but i've been really happy with the results of mics>722...  i think the schoeps w/ the 722 is a really nice pairing... check out some of my tapes from vegoose i ran jimbo's 4v's with my 722.

i'll call u later and we can bitch some more about all this :)  ;D

best of luck!

Seriously, the band makes the music. Tapers just point mics in the right direction and hit "record".

That's good to hear!  The last patcher I had complained about my AKGs, fluffed schoeps for about 15 minutes, stayed patched in, and farted on me all night long.

Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.
