I don't think Gefell has a machine shop making these themselves... they buy them from someone else who does machining for a living.  It would be interesting to figure out who that is and contact them directly, because there's a source of the connectors for active cables.  Personally, I've decided that actives don't suit me so I'm not going to worry about it, but if someone else is interested, there you go.
