Title: Sponge Windscreen and Furry Windjammer
Post by: gihl on July 06, 2020, 11:46:16 AM

Hello,
I recently bought a Zoom H3-VR recorder.
The Zoom H3-VR comes with a Foam Sponge Windscreen, but I bought a new Rycote Mini Windjammer For Zoom H3-VR.
And I was able to put this Windjammer on the Foam Sponge Windscreen.

Can I use the Foam Sponge Windscreen and Windjammer together?
I always record ambient sounds outdoors.
I would like to ask you for advice.
Thanks.

You can definitely use them together.  Whether it's too much of a good thing, though, I don't know.  Your best bet will be to do some experiments to hear whether having both on there muffles the sound too much (my guess is it won't...but that's just a guess).

Use as much wind-screening as you need to reduce wind noise to inaudible levels.  Some treble boost EQ can nicely compensate for the "high-frequency attenuation" effect of the layered wind screening, which is far less problematic and relatively easy to correct for compared to intermittent wind noise leaking into the recording, which is difficult if impossible to fix afterwards in a transparent way.
