all AKG 480/460 users....

i am in "development" stage for creating custom cables to run the AKG caps like the neumann akXX caps.

i've been toying with an akg swivel adaptor and talking to a buddy who does machining to come up with a design.

i don't know the time frame of all this, so we'll see how it goes.

What he said!!!  Put me on the list for sure if this comes through.  I was about to send off for a JK box when John took his permanant hiatus.  I have $$$ at the ready.

There is an actual active cable for the 460 bodies, but it doesn't use the normal ck 61 capsules.  Here's one currently on

damn it, i was watching that like a hawk hoping nobody else would see it.

cool, marc. so I own swivels already. Does that mean I already have some of the parts you'll be needing to make this work? will you be using part of the swivel to mate to the cap and then connect cable to swivel end? still need the bodies on the other end. wow, this sounds great. i'll be hanging on to my swivels, was thinking of unloading them.

keep us informed.

tony

ps: let me know when those other cables are ready.

Hey Marc if I can help LMK as I have been doing the same thing for longer than I care to mention ;-)....I have the body made and am presently working the electronics....just have to let the house building, travel for work, seeing shows and family life go by the wayside.  Actually the electronics are on my desk (screeming at me).....8 days a week!
Here is what I have done...

you are the man, marc! i was thinking about trying the exact same thing when i had my 460's, but didn't have the scratch to spend on the swivels. i hope it works out! if it does, i'll have to get back on the 460 train. 8) it'd be extra great if they work with the ck61/2/3 caps instead of the ck1 caps. thank you for all you do for this community!

Another quick question concerning the 460's.......

You have to run the CK1x, CK2x & CK3x capsules to utilize the active cables.  But you can run the 460's without the active cables and use the CK61, CK62 & CK63 capsules?  Is this correct?

Marc,

Will your cables be built to accept the two different capsules (CK1x and CK61)?
Or will you have to build two seperate cables?

Since the CK1x capsules are impossible to find and cables already exist premade by akg.  Also since Marc said he would be working with the swivel adapter I would assume that he is making them to work with the CK61/2/3 caps that everyone has and not the ck1x.  My guess is to make them work with the 1x all you would need is the lemo connector on the one end of that same cable.
