Title: vhs to dvd conversion help.
Post by: svenkid on January 15, 2006, 05:45:45 PM
hey all, I recently scored some dank videos of sci and gd, and was wondering what the best way to convert to dvd would be, Ive heard that there are better types of single unit vhs to dvd recorders, and are better at synching up the video and audio, any help would be much appreciated.

There are some very dedicated GD collectors who have authored (or are in the process of authoring) high quality versions of just about everything that's out there.  Before transferring any of your tapes (none of which I assume are master copies), you should check to see if the master tape has already been transferred and circulated - there's a good chance that it has.

Both dimeadozen.org and thetradersden.org have lots of GD DVDs available for download.  If you don't have the bandwidth to download - you can always request a B&P.

Cheers,

guitard

stand alone converters/burners do not let you make any kind of real menu or edit the video much or at all, ie dubb audio, bitrate

but as stated check out thetradersden.com

10/9/89 and 6/21/89 were just released on dvd by the video group that I belong to, DVDead.  The releases are the complete shows.  Both include SBD audio upgrade.

Is 10/20/90 and 10/24/90 complete?  PM me.

In order to do a good transfer, you will need the following:

1) Super VHS VCR - highest resolution
2) time base corrector - prevents frame drops, tightens pixels.
3) ADC
4) firewire card
5) good capture software - like SClive!
6) upgrade audio from  camera mic recording.
