Hey there fellow tapers,
I am looking at the Nady DMP-2 preamp.
Mostly for a battery operated dual power supply.
Has anyone had any experience with one of these?
If so how long does the battery last?
Does this thing suck?
Thanks,
Richard

I know nothing about it and it never seems to be discussed here, but at that price it almost has to suck (even if a relatively good deal for the money).
I would save up for a Naiant Tinybox which would probably run $250-$300 depending on the options. It will do 48 volt phantom power with a breakout cable.

Great battery life, small & excellent quality (people even use these with Schoeps mics).
The options can be extremely confusing, so e-mail Jon about the features you need or what you want it to do and he will tell you what it will cost.

You'll be happier if you save up and get a nicer piece of gear...

I had one of those Nady DMP-2 pre's for a little while. I think I used it once, and I would not buy it again. It was years ago, but I recall that it added a noticeable bit of hiss to the recording at high gain levels.

I had one for a little while. Yeah, you get what you pay for. For almost the same money, you can buy a UA-5, which is a much better box.
