I've got no more than $250...spend it for me
« on: March 24, 2004, 04:58:26 PM »
Since no question is out-of-bounds, here it goes.

I wanna start taping. I don't want to spend anymore than $250 though (if possible)

What kind of rig for stealth taping would I need?

Thanks for any help!!!

Does that have a built in mic? If so, I'd rather not use that...unless you think it is better.

Sound Pro AT831s ARE the mics.  Damn good ones for the price, too!

All this talk of Audio Technica and Sound Professionals confuses me.  What's the SP model # for the AT831s?

SP-CMC-2 I believe.  Might be the -4 but I'm pretty sure it's the -2.

all these stealth mic models confuse the hell out of me!

the sp at831's are the sp-cmc-2's. I also recommend these.

I have 8's from '98 and they were AT 933s then.

I have 8's from '98 and they were AT 933s then.

I've got the same ones.  SP's site leads me to believe that they are still the 933s.  Someone said the 943s do not have switchable caps, but the 8's do have the switchable caps.

Also, just checked AT's site, and they renamed the at933s to the ES933s.  Same mics, though...

 :hmmm: :hmmm:

perphaps my ass isn't quite behind me on this one.

*looking, researching*

the 6s are "binaurals"
8s are card
10s hyper
12s shotties
14s subcards (mmmm, might have to try these outdoors 8) )

all based off the AT933/ES933/ES943 mics
the AT933s are discontinued, and I presume have been replaced by the ES933/43.  The only difference between the ES933s and the ES943s that I can see is the accessories that are supplied, the specs are identical.

From the AT website, it states that the ES933/43 are capable of interchangable caps.  However, I couldn't find the part number for extra caps.

On another note, the sister SP mics (6/8/10/12/14) say nothing about having interchangable caps, but there is a link at the bottom of each page transferring us to an adapter that will allow the SP-CMC-6/8/10/12/14 (ES943) bodies to accept SP-CMC-4 (AT853) caps.  To me, it kind of defeats the purpose of having slimline mics, but hey.

Now what I'd like to know is how the AT933/ES943 system works, so if any of you can chime in.  Does it use the AT853X-ELE caps? And if so, what is the part number on ATs website for the adapter?

Take your $250 to an internet gambling site and quickly double it by putting a play on Wake Forest to cover the spread against St. Joseph... then you'll have $500 and can buy something even nicer! ;)

Edited for brain fart.
