which Dat tape? (lenght)
« on: May 01, 2004, 04:48:43 PM »
If I have a show recording  in flac/shn  on my Hd and
the show decompressed is for example 105 minutes.
And i would like to transfer it to a Dat tape.
Do i need a 120 min tape (dont know if its even exist)?o its better to put it on 2 60 min Dat tape?
Is there a loss of quality between long time tape and short one?
I used to read that long time tape may have more errors or something like that?Which lenght is usually prefered?

60 meter DAT tape  = 120 minutes
90 meter DAT tape = 180 minutes

I would use as short of a tape as possible...

yes, use short tape if recording live (60m or even 95min).
If you know a recording will fit on a certain length tape (90m or 3hr), you wont have problems with that either.
