weird clicking/ticking noise on recordings
« on: November 16, 2006, 09:29:17 PM »
not sure what this is. its a faint clicking noise that im guessing is always there but only audible when the band/singer does a quiet song. any suggestions or ideas on what this is or what i can do to fix it would be appreciated. both recordings are akg463>pmd660.

Its pretty faint isnt it? - I think I hear it...a very faint "tink tink tink tink"

Probably cell phone...although not as bad as some examples...

yes its faint, but i notice it more in the car than i do on the computer speakers. how close does a cell phone have to be to make some kind of interruption? i know that i keep my phone in my pocket but the 660 is atleast 3 or so feet away from me.

You might want to setup your rig and do some experiments...record some silence and move your phone around...make some calls/text...

There are a few threads on this - relatively common - probably moreso than we all notice...

That sounds like an electronics problem inside the unit PMD660. Cell phone issues are loud and don't last very long. This sounds like something you might want to send it back to Doug to look into. I won't make any assumptions on what is wrong exactly but it does sound as though there is an issue in the unit itself.
Busman mics of all kinds>some type of busman modified recorder.
