Edirol R09 HR - Retrieving files after battery dies!
« on: August 26, 2011, 09:19:38 PM »
I had my batteries dying while recording with my ER09-HR. The file was saved to the SDHC card and was transferred to my PC succesfully.
The file length is ~300 MB and plays fine in foobar 2000 but I can´t open the file in cool edit (it says length is 0 sec!)
Why is this? What do I need to do?

Thanks!
N.

Look around here for a wave header repair util.  I think it is homegrown, but it works as advertised.  Here is the thread... http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=72936.0
If you have a problem relating to the Live Music Archive (http://www.archive.org/details/etree) please send an e-mail to us admins at LMA(AT)archive(DOT)org or post in the LMA thread here and we'll get on it.

Put the card back in the R-09HR and use the built-in "repair" tool.

The R-09HR is the only pocket recorder able to repair files like this - you made the right choice of recorder.

This is the best way to repair.

If you have lost the manual, you can download it HERE.

The Repair Tool worked!!  Thank you John.  I was able to salvage an Allman Brothers Band set from this weekend.

I still keep an original R-09 in the box of recording stuff and tools which goes along to fests and out of state trips with me, primarily for that function (and also as an extra backup recorder). Good to hear the file repair function was retained on the HR model and not eliminated like the optical out.
