I will be recording about 12ft back from stage, my akg;s c1000's with the stero bar isnt able to go into XY with out having to point one of the mics down, How should I set up?

Go DIN 90*...I have had nice results from that close with DIN  Good luck

What stereo bar are you using?  If you have the AKG bar or something like it, remove one of the mounting screws and turn it upside down.  That way, you will have one microphone above the bar and one below it so you can easily do XY, DIN, or any configuration.  Vertical spacing between the capsules is never a big deal if it is only a few inches difference.

I would highly recommend going XY if you are that close to the stage; DIN may leave you with a hole in the middle of your soundstage.

when I flip it around I have about 4.5 to 5 inches space hight wise between mics.

that isnt a huge factor...you should be good to go!

That's fine and to be expected.  As long as its not like a two foot difference you will be fine.

Nice you guys rock, I will go XY then at only 10 ft. the recording should sound pretty dope. T+ Any one who wants to send some links for some good stereo recoding bars clamps ect. anything to my my next recording adventure easier.  Last show i did the only place i could set up was under a heating duct, and i got killer feedback and weird noises.

I don't know with the C1000's their a bit big, i think your best bet would be to use the shure vert bar.  or the swivel tbar might actually be better.. and then get a riser, so you can get one mic over the other. i know sonic sense has them, check http://www.sonicsense.com/access.htm that should have everything your looking for i think.  good luck.

id personally run a wide ORTF, like maybe 120-130*

I used to use 2 clamps similair to the K&M side bar mic clamps and could run my c1000's xy with the caps sitting practically on top of each other.
