what are some other stereo micorphones out there besides the AKG 426B, C 422, & C24 and the Soundfield?  been thinking of maybe trying out one of the AKG stereo mics if i can find one for sale sometime.  any other suggestions on diff. stereo mics that are out there and would work well for taping in the field?

In addition to the AKG models you listed they also made the following stereo mics.

C522
C522MS
C33
C34

Also I own a Sony ECM 969 stereo mic, never found any information on it though. I've never tried it because it didn't come with the 5 pin to 2 3 pin xlr cable and I never got around to making one.

ribbon mics are generally too sensitive for our applications, but that studio projects is supposed to have gotten great reviews

too sensitive?    ???    Ribbon mics are typically very low sensitivity designs. Maybe you meant they are too fragile for our applications?

I too have read numerous great reviews on the Studio Projects LSD-2, and have been tempted to grab one.  But alas, don't have the cash right now.  It apparently has the same elements in it as their highly regarded C3 mics, which sounds intriguing.

Wonder if one could get a demo unit from some vendor?  Anybody know of such a possibility?  Hmm...

Do you know Alan Hyatt?  Or is he the owner of SP?  Either way, very cool...let us know how you make out, I'd love to find out how this mic sounds.
