Hey all, I know I have seen this around here before but searching is not bring up any info that I can use.
I really like my A27M but it is not quite long enough to run TLs in blumen or m/s config. Does anyone know of an extender that is sold for this bar. Right now what I am doing is using my super clamp and bogen flex arm but it is just too much trouble. Any suggestions on making this setup easier.

I've buit a few of these for people. I've used oak and drilled out the center. It's much sturdier than PVC and takes a few minutes more to build than the PVC (of course it does require a drill press and the right drill bits.

So figure of 8 XY is the same as blumin? I did not realize that. Will have to give it a try.

yes it is the same. The capsuls are round, so it doesn't matter which way the body is turned as long as the capsul face is pointing the right way.

no its not the same. it creates a phasing issue to run horizontal patterned LD's. I can't speak to it exactly, as its been a while since I read it, but, there are extensive discussions here on the particulars.
hmmmm... I've done x/y that way many time and never noticed any phasing problems. This is the first I've heard of there being any problems with it. Maybe we should take that out of Jason B's ld mic setup guide. http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=17020.0

Yes, like Matt said...In the case of a circular diaphram blumlein pair you can mount them horizontally, although the bodies will be hanging in the back lobes and would cause more diffraction and interferance to the rear sound field.Sometimes There "can" be phasing issues, milliseconds of delay with side by side placement, but horizontal mounting will work. In the case of something like ribbons(or Pearl ELM mics), where the capsule is very thin and long, horizontal mounting is bad because the sound arrives at one end of the ribbon first and travels along the length. What a lot of people forget is that directional patterns are 3 dimensional.
