Are These XLR Cables Any Good?
« on: May 20, 2008, 11:07:43 PM »
I recently had a friend give me a set of XLR cables, and wondered if anyone who knows more about cable could tell me where they fit in quality wise. First, the cable itself is Canare L-4E6S. Also more specs here.

Next, the connectors are Neutrik NC*MX & NC*FX. (Straight, not Right Angle)

I assume these are kind of a "basic" cable, since he gave them to me after upgrading to some Miagi II "bumblebee" cables made by legeedy, but wondered if you folks had any input to offer...

Thanks!

Those are fine cables and are the first ones I made my self and used for almost three years until I upgraded to Silver Dogstar. Many members here have used them and a lot still do and I use them for my SDB patch cable.

Nothing wrong with those cables. Lots of us here at ts woulld call the Canare Star Quad the first good cable we had. Definetly a step up from the standard house brand you would get at Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc. Good basic Neutrik connectors. Should last as long as you want to run them or until the upgrade bug hits. When it does keep these as a backup or pass them on to someone else who is just getting started.

<edit> like rjt ^^^, also the first cable stock and connectors I used when I soldered my first set, still have them and use them occasionally when I need extra length for certain situations </edit>
