OLD 853's question
« on: May 17, 2008, 06:41:32 PM »
I bought some old AT853's off of ebay and the capsules are different, not only do they look different but thread different also, the threads are on the outside of the capsules, as opposed to the inside (on the newer capsules)  is there anything i can do to be able to use my other caps on these bodies?  Thanks for any input

i can take pictures later and post them if that would help out.

Those are very old, not compatable with the current stuff.  I had one set of those, but they were not very good at all (self noise too high).

Please DO NOT mail me with tech questions.  I will try to answer in the forums when I get a chance.  Thanks.

I know this won't help, sorry, but I thought I'd mention I have a pair of 853 cardioids for sale in Yard Sale, each mic cable terminates in a 1/8". Perfect for the Church Audio preamp.

Paging Chris Church...
AFAIR, Church put a bunch of these on the YS that he sold off on the cheap, maybe 6 months ago or so. He would know more about the history and the specs of these.  He even posted pics in his thread.
Use the search function, or shoot him a PM.
