Has anyone tried recording FLAC on their 744T? Now that Samplitude can handle FLAC's, I figured I would start recording in FLAC.

Well, I have recorded FLAC on my 702, and it worked out just fine on the recording end. But with memory so cheap, I’m not sure it’s worth it. SD’s FLAC implementation saves you at most 30% I have found. Maybe with 4 tracks on a 744 it would be worth it.
However, most data recovery software does not recognize FLAC format. This is significant because when I was uploading my only CF copy of the concert, my PC corrupted the CF (thank you Mr. Gates) and both my PC and my 702 thought the card was no longer formatted. After trying a couple of data recovery software packages and not getting anywhere, I ended up using a hex editor to extract the data. Alls well than ends well, I guess.
The lessons leaned are thus:
1. Always, Always, Always take advantage of the SD’s ability to record two copies at one time.
2. And, of lesser importance, don’t bother recording in FLAC.
