Title: Is there any stereo line in option for iPhone 6?
Post by: speedo on August 31, 2015, 01:12:53 AM
I have a pair of soundman binaural mics. Self-powered with an adapter. In older iPhones companies like Tascam made line in options on portable interfaces. Now I can't find anything for iPhone 6. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I am very impressed with the results I have obtained with the Tascam iXJ2 and binaural mics. It's an old 30-pin device, but works perfectly well with the Apple adapter. In fact I prefer it off the phone than connected directly to it.

I keep it, together with adapter and OKM mics, in a neat little case stored in the glovebox of the car. It's proved frequently very useful.

I'm looking forward to receiving mics from Chris Church to see how they compare used with the iXJ2 and Sony M10. I can imagine the iXJ2 being part of the ultimate stealth kit.

Somebody is selling one here for $20 ... bargain!

Oh, too bad. I can't find the IXJ2 anywhere. I'm in Germany and would have to order it from the US I guess. Any other options?

I thought I wasn't going mad, here's the one for sale:

Although I'm not sure if he will ship to Germany.

I'm in the UK and I bought mine on eBay for £29. It's discontinued but there are still plenty around.

Here's a comparison recording I made with the Sony PCM-D100:

It's not a very useful comparison against the D100's internal mics. I should have done a comparison with the OKM's directly into my Sony M10 using PIP. The M10 sounds better, but I still like my iXJ2 a lot. I bought it after reading this article:

I would ship to EUR, but the buyer would have to pay shipping.  Might be a deal breaker.
