A quick Thorazine Shuffle comp from Wednesday's Gov't Mule show. I was front row, left side and ran DIN as sort of shown here:
http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=63748.0Mk4 DIN > RMod > 722 24/96
Mk41 DIN > kc5 > CMC6 > V3 > MT 24/48
Wavelab5 resample & UV22HR
You can hear me slide a loose windscreen over the right mics during the first second. The chick next to me was getting a little wild with her hair and I was worried about wind noise.
I considered doing yet another v3 vs. 722 comp but I don't use my mk41's enough and I'm still 'testing' the RMod before I rely on it for super critical shows.. So this seemed like a good time to get them both out to play. Plus the mk41's would cover me in case the sound was nasty. I did a comp of the Mk4 > RMod > V3 a while back and it was somewhat lacking in bass ("The V3 musta sucked the bass out of the RMod!" - unknown taper)
The mics were pointed slightly across the stage and centered on Warren's guitar cabinets. The stacks were hung high above and slightly to the left of center. There was only a small speaker below the stacks, also just slightly left of center. The right mics were approximately aimed at the keyboards on the right side of the stage.
After a brief discussion with BrianS we felt comps kinda get lost in kickdown/open and they are better posted in either mics&setup or pre-amps/ADs. This comp is a little of both but more of a mic comp.
I'll post the results on Sunday. Enjoy!
A torrent of one of the sources will follow after this leg of the tour ends on 5/2.. Or when someone else torrents the show on etree.
