Q's About Powering A Multiface
« on: March 21, 2006, 01:26:06 PM »
OK, the RME manual says this:

"The Multiface draws a high startup current of more than 2.5 A during initialisation. Current at 12
Volt operating voltage: unloaded 500 mA (6 Watts), loaded 760 mA (9 Watts). Supply voltage
range DC 8 V – 28 V, AC 8 V – 20 V."

I have a Valence VNC130 with several tips, one of which is 19VDC and should fit the Multi.  Since I know nothing about electricity, is this safe to use?  It would appear so from the info above, but then again I know pretty much nothing.

Thanks,
Dirk

Assuming the quoted 2.5A spec is at 12 volts, that's 30 watts.  If we assume the worst case within the operating voltage range of 8-28volts, that would be 2.5*28 = 70 watts.

I'm not familiar with the Valence but a quick search for specs finds a claim of 130 watts... If correct, even the worst case calcs suggest there is plenty of reserve capacity.

Looks like you should be fine.
