Title: vx pocket setup (successful)
Post by: caymanreview on March 07, 2004, 08:14:17 AM
i got my vx pocket a few days ago, and hadnt really messed with it untill last night

ive got the newest install pack from digigram, and it runs fine and installs the vx pocket v2 on my pc, the mixer for the vx seems to work find, but i cant use it at all

when i try to record with wavelab, it says "make sure your card supports this sample rate" or something like that, but i was just trying it out at 16/44.1

i cant get it to work with sf6.0 either

when i go into my device manager it says that the card is working properly and the drivers are fine and they are the digigram drivers

i am running win2k pro on a sony vaio piturebook (c1vp which is the c1vn with 3 gig more hd and 67mhz bigger processor) if that matters

any help from someone who has done this before?

Thanks
Dustin

yeah, you might have to be sending it a signal

allright heres a little update

i am still having probs with the vx setup. when i try to use the card and insert it, it kills all my visable levels using it or the stock vocal mic on the laptop, which usually works

i downloaded the pdf file from digigram and followed the instructions to a "T" to install this, i was missing one step before with installing the vx wave hardware, but that doesnt seem to be affecting this at all

in the setup guide it tells me that windows wont let me record using the regular windows driver, that is why i am using the vx wave driver.

anyone that has done this before have any tips/tricks for me???

In soundforge you have to make sure your settings are correct for the signal say 16/44 or whatever and make sure your mme is set for the same thing or you will get an error "make sure your card supports this sample rate" ran into that a couple of times.  Also in the mixer make sure it's set to digital and not analog.  Those are the only things i have ran into so far everything else has worked really well except for that huge dongle falling out of the pcmcia card, but that problem is solved now thanks to ian.  Oh yeah i also run this on a c1vn if it matters.

it's been a while since i had mine, but i think you have to be sending it a live signal before opening soundforge, or else it will not lock on to that signal.

been there done that, nothing

i messed with it for 3 hours, did 3 full install/uninstalls of all the software/hardware. and nothing

maybe it is just my picturebook, i have the c1vp and everyone else that runs the picturebook has the c1vn

 ;D ;D ;DHUGE UPDATE ;D ;D ;D

props go to mannysbones

he told me that he had similar problems with his vx pocket setup, and told me to try some of the other older drivers from digigram

i had been thinking to try this but hadnt got the time to do it

i had to use the digigram drivers number 4.1A , instead of the newest drivers that are 5.00E

this thing is running smoothly, and this just makes my conversion to a V3 so much easier

doing some 24/48 recordings of the morning news right now!!!

Thanks a big +T's to everyone~!

windows sucks, especially dealing with win2k which isnt plug and play compatible, it just makes it more difficult

ok, so the older drivers maybe something that i need?  i have the vx pocket v2 and i just downloaded the newest drivers/install kit from digigram's site.  i also run windows 2000 pro.

from what this post says, i'll need 4.1, not 5.0.

thanks for the tip!

im not sure, the person who told me to try it also used a vaio picturebook, this may just be an issues with the picturebooks compatibility, but if you install the 5.00E and you have problems like not getting level meters and error messages from your recording software, then try the 4.1A

it was a snap when i used the 4.1a. just ran the app, and installed the vx wave driver seperatly, this is something that has to be done seperatly with 2k only, read the install manual

is anyone running a mp2> vx pocket???

i've noticed on mine that the levels from the mp2 XLR outputs are pretty hot and it brickwalls the vx pocket.   I put some line pads in there and that solved the problem, just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this?

i have never owned/used a mp2, but i know people have said that the xlr outs on the mp2 are a little hotter than the line out

well, i had one on hold from a fellow board member, but evidently didnt want to wait and sold it

im gonna run the mme a few more shows, then either buy a v2 or sell the mme and buy a v3

right now im thinking v2 > mme

nope im feeding it a digi 24/48 from my mini me

and simp dawg, somehting about win2k is different which makes installing some hardware dificult, and makes the vx pocket installation 2 steps when they should just both happen when you run the installation
