zoltrix nightingale probs w/ "ticks"
« on: July 27, 2004, 03:49:40 PM »
hey i recently switched from windows 2000 to windows xp after i realized that xp had a stable zoltrix driver.  but now that i've done a transfer, i'm shocked to hear tiny "ticks" spread out randomly through my .wav file.  ticks not found on the dat master.

i'm currently using the NG180_WDM drivers.  what's everyone else using for drivers?

i've tried
- muting all the vol outputs
- left monitoring unchecked.
- cable should be fine, transfering in w2k is flawless
- all other programs are off/disabled
- video card wise, hardware acceleration off and on.

anyone have any solutions?  i really don't wanna go back to w2k.  :(

to me, offhand, it sounds like a latency issue

i have not had any sort of problem like this, and I have only used the soundcard in XP.

my only though is this: is the tape 48kH?  the nightingale only does 44.1 - could lead to problems, but i can't think why it wouldn't just truncate the extra samples.

the only issue i have had - sometimes you need to switch the format setting from normal to reverse in the advanced settings of the audio rack software.  i have not discovered a trend to this phenomenon...seems to be entirely random as to which setting I have to use.

FWIW - I always monitor the recording.

sorry i couldn't help you solve this problem...like i said no problems here.  i would try to grab a 44.1 tape source and see if it has the same issues.

Wrong.  My Nightingale Pro 6 does 48khz just fine.

Very odd.  I had the same problem with Adobe Audition.  I switched to Soundforge and my transfers are now flawless in XP.
