I did a simple mod for the power pack that runs the NAK MX-100, which runs on 2 standard 9V's and normaly provides 5-6 hours of juice. My mod simply uses two 9.6V R/C rechargeable batteries in place of the two standard 9V batteries. My question is: How long will this mod afford me in the field? Does anyone have experience with calculating such things? I am hoping for enough juice to tape a weekend festival coming up. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

I just recently built my first battery box for my MX (regular 9v's though). Just curious how you're going from your MX100 > JB3? analog in?
So far, my only way of going optical in is ...MX100 > (1/4-to-XLR) > AD20 > JB3

Yes! I am simply going analog In, NAK MX-100 > NJB3.
Anyone know the average runtime on a 9.6V R/C vs. a normal 9V? Perhaps that is the way to figure it out. For example if the 9.6V lasts 4X as long as a 9V, I guess one could guess that this mod would allow for 4X (5-6 hours) = 20-24 hours???? Does that sound about right? Has anyone done experiments with the durration of the 9.6V R/C battery?

I would doubt anyone has tried 9.6V R/C with the MX-100 but you never know. I use 2 lithium 9V's to get 4X the life. 4X in this case would be approx. 25 hours. You can also hook up 4 9V's.

Would it be dangerous to the MX-100 to use 2 9.6V batteries instead of 9V?? It looks like a tough little Pre., guess I will have to experiment and let yins know.

I've been using the 9.6v nimh batts for a while with no problems..
1400 mAh batts seem to last FOREVER.

No, it won't hurt the mx-100. It actually calls for +/- 10 volts DC.
If those packs are 1400 mAhr as someone posted, they will last 28 or 70 hours assuming the mx-100 runs at 50mA or 20mA. I measured 20mA, but 50 has been cited here on TS.com

I ran my MX-100 on two 9.6V NiMH packs (1800mAH capacity) without any issues at all. Also ran it on two 9V cells as well. The MX-100 as it was stated about is designed to run on +/- 10VDC. @ 50mA current draw.
1800mAH/50mA = 36hr run time
I found out that standard 9V DC cells (alkaline) provide about 5~6hrs of run time.
