Title: Anyone using the AKG Actives???
Post by: adventuregeorge on June 18, 2004, 02:42:59 PM
I thinking of going the active route with my my 480's.  Just wondering were do I get the active cables and do they have to be AKG?  Also, what the cost would be? Lastly the sound?? any different than running the bodies?

Thanks, G.

If you can find some that work, let me know. I think the only actives that are available are for the 300 series mics.

AKG only makes the active setup for the bluelines.  You'd have to go the route of JK Labs for the active setup.  This setup uses no mic bodies, but a phantom power box acting as the part of the mic bodies.  Lee Williams here runs this setup with the 61/63 caps, and there are also a few others that I think run it also.

You might want to PM Lee for some more detailed information on these

they actually did make actives for the 460's but they ONLY work with the 460's...

Lee's JK Labs box is the way to go!
