AC cable for 744? Need repair...
« on: August 22, 2012, 02:12:49 PM »
Looks like they don't even sell my wall wart type AC plug.  Mine died.  All they have is an $82 one.  Yikes!  Can anyone repair my 744 cable?

Is the green LED on the wall wart lighting up?

If not, the AC>DC transformer, aka the wall wart, is probably toast.

If the LED IS lighting up, it might just be a bad/broken solder joint in the Hirose connector.

My wall wart just crapped the bed a few weeks ago. Transformer finally puked. I toyed with the idea of finding an AC>DC transformer with the proper voltage and terminating it with the appropriate Hirose connector. But after repairing my original power supply once or twice I cringed at the thought. I decided to pony up the bucks for a new one already terminated.

Yeah, $82 is too steep for what it is, but it was worth every penny to not have spend the best part of a day to solder up my own properly...
