« on: December 05, 2007, 11:35:33 AM »
I have a pair of Sonic Studios DSM-5L clip on mics..........Now what?  They end up in a single 1/8 inch stereo mini plug..........which deck(Edirol, etc) should I get to start taping shows?  Thanks in advance!

R-09 is newbie friendly and small for ease of stealth taping.  Some have had problems with the input jack, but that is repairable if it happens.

Assume you have a battery box or some other option to power those mics?

I love DAT! they still pull off great recordings and are relatively cheap.

I still love my DAT too, but the media can be expensive if you do a lot of recording.  I'd recommend a flash recorder to a noob.

Other flash recorders in the price range include:  Marantz PMD620 ($399), Zoom H2 ($199) and the Microtrack II ($300)...

Also, check the Yardsale (http://taperssection.com/index.php/board,7.0.html).  If you keep checking, you might find a good deal.
