looking to poss get one for the holidays
i read they should be but of course the dips at the store have no clue if the players are or are not and the only one i saw anything on the box said 1.1 so thats out

There are quite a few of them available.  The Panasonic DMP-BD50K is a pretty good one.  There's also the Sony BDP-S350 (or S550).  Most people are still opting for the PS3, though.
